Chelsea McIver, Research Associate

Chelsea McIver is a research specialist with the Forest Industry Research Program at the University of Montana's Bureau of Business and Economic Research. She holds a BA in Rural and Environmental Sociology and an MS in Forestry from the University of Montana. Current research projects include studies of the forest products industry in Montana, Wyoming and California, federal contracting policy and its impact on local business utilization to conduct management and restoration on public lands, and analyses of the forest product industry's ability to utilize small-diameter material.

Chelsea is a member of the Local Wood is Good committee and is on the planning committee for Montana Forest Products Week. She is also involved in local collaborative efforts, currently serving as chair of the Socioeconomic Monitoring Committee of the Southwestern Crown of the Continent Collaborative and as a member of the Lolo Restoration Committee. Prior to working at the University of Montana, Chelsea spent 5 years working as a grantmaker for the National Forest Foundation supporting and building the capacity of collaborative and community-based conservation groups across the country. She lives in Missoula with her daughter and cat.
